5 Day Bwindi Gorilla Trekking and Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Upon arrival in Entebbe or Kampala, you will embark on a scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in southwestern Uganda. The drive takes approximately 8-10 hours, passing through rolling hills, lush countryside, and picturesque villages. Along the way, you will have a lunch stop in Mbarara town, followed by an opportunity to take photos at the Igongo Cultural Centre or the Equator landmark.
Upon arrival in Bwindi, you will check in at your lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the cool mountain air. In the evening, a cultural visit to the Batwa pygmy community will offer insights into their traditional way of life.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The briefing covers safety guidelines and an introduction to the gorilla families. You will then be assigned a trekking group and set out into the dense jungle in search of the majestic mountain gorillas.
The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you find them, you will spend a magical hour observing their interactions, taking photos, and learning about their behavior.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge to relax. In the afternoon, you can opt for a community walk or a guided nature walk to explore more of Bwindi’s beauty.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Ishasha Sector
After breakfast, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. The drive takes about 4-5 hours, with an en-route game drive in Ishasha, where you might spot lions resting on fig tree branches, along with other wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.
After the game drive, you will continue to your lodge near the Mweya Peninsula or Kasenyi Plains, where you will check in and unwind.

Day 4: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Wake up early for a thrilling game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, an area known for its rich wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, and numerous antelope species. The morning hours offer the best chance to spot predators hunting.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch before heading to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. The channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George, is home to one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with crocodiles, water birds, and a variety of animals that come to drink at the shores.
After the cruise, you will return to your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Return to Kampala/Entebbe
On the final day, you will have an early breakfast and drive to Kyambura Gorge for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience. Accompanied by rangers, you will trek through the forested gorge in search of these playful primates.
After the tracking adventure, you will embark on the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, with lunch en route. You will arrive in the evening, concluding your memorable 5-day safari.
